Adventurous Iceland Elopement - Emily & Josh

We met in person for the first time over a delicious Charleston brunch and before I knew it I was on my way to see their tiny house and meet their handsome son (read, dog) Arlo. It's friendships like that, the ones that you don't have to think about, that make me love what I do. Josh + Emily are two of the most genuine, adventurous people I know. Good times and good stories seem to follow them wherever they go, and they spread kindness and joy like they're going out of style, so when they said they wanted to trade in their North Carolina mountain wedding for an Iceland Waterfall elopement, I was all in and tried my best not to explode with excitement on site.

The day of their elopement started out with torrential downpours and 35 mile per hour winds so we scratched the 'Sunrise at Skogafoss' plan and waited until evening when the weather cleared to venture west to the Fjadrargljufur Canyon area and avoid the crowds at Skogafoss. Moss covered lava fields, a glacial river, black sand, and the canyon itself provided for an amazing backdrop but it was Josh + Emily that I couldn't take my eyes off of. Their love is real. It's strong. It's a safe and happy place. It's one of friendship and selflessness. It's one of adventure and curiosity, dreams and reality, trust and kindness. It's the kind of love worth waiting and working for. I pray and hope you can catch a sense of it in these images and feel a bit like you were there that day, standing on the banks of the river and then on top of the canyon with us, witnessing the start of a beautiful life together.
